A Little Bit Retro

Hello, everyone! I hope you’ve all had a good Wednesday. It’s still hot here in TN 😦 .

For today’s project, we’re going to go a little bit retro!

As you can see, our retro piece is the car. I did all of the coloring with a q-tip that I touched to the ink pad. Now, I don’t know what possessed me to take on the desert-retro combination, but I think it works.

A Button of Thanks Card

Hello, everyone! It’s Monday and that means it’s time for another linky party on the {ippity} blog! Hop on over and link  up!

My project for today is a button thank-you card.

I thought this would be a little different from what I normally would have on a thank-you card—a little more 3-D.

Quote Garden

Hello, everyone! I’m so sorry I haven’t been doing that great of a job keeping new stuff coming on here 😦 I’m a slow scrapper. I will do better.

Anyway, it was so hot here in TN yesterday  (heat index: 104; humidity: through the roof) that I decided to stay in and scrap! There is also a Summer CHA 2011 Online Social going on over at 2peas where you can do chats, challenges, etc. Lots of fun stuff going on! With the humidity being so bad, my adhesives are not wanting to work too well–EEK!!!!! Do any of you have this same problem, or is it just me?

Finally, on to the quote garden! I didn’t know where to get one of the templates for the little flower pot so I made my own. There is a pocket in the back (it’s just the base part of the pot without the rim) to hold the flowers in.  I used popsicle sticks to write the quotes on and used stamps and paper flowers for the florals. To top it off, I added brads or glitter to the center of the flowers and stamped a sentiment on the outside of the pot.

All of the quotes came from either Quoteland.com or from the book The Write Words by Crystal Dawn Perry. I thought this would be a great project for teachers to use for something like a ‘quote of the day’ where they could draw a flower for the quote. You could also change the flowers with the season or holiday! Very versatile in my opinion!

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

At the moment, I’m waiting on my husband to return from Subway with one of their new Barbecue subs. I wonder if it will be good. See, I’m a big barbecue fan, so anything with barbecue catches my attention:). I think the best barbecue I’ve ever had comes from a little trailer/restaurant called Big E’s, which is right down the road from my home. It’s called the barbecue stuffed baked potato–it has cheese sauce, green onions, and sour cream on top. It is soooooooo good, but your house will smell like green onions for several days because they put so many on it. Well, enough of that. My mind’s on food!

The green straw held in place with the staple is ornamental straw that you can buy to go in flower arrangements. I just cut it to the length that I wanted and then stapled it to the card.

Always Bring Your Own Sunshine….

Hello, everyone!!!

I’m back today with another project….yet another card. Sorry if this is getting a little monotonous for you. It’s where I do my best work 🙂

I had some new paper that I wanted to use, so here it is:

The first thing that I did was make the rolled roses. If you don’t already know how to make them, check out Lollychops’ tutorial here. She does a great job of explaining the process and also shows you how to make them out of felt. Next I stamped my images and attached yellow tulle to the back of the sentiment. I also made some leaves for the flowers and inked the card edges.

Monday, Monday and {ippity} Linky Party!!!!

Hello, everyone!! I hope you all have had a great Monday so far!

I wanted to remind you about the Monday Linky Party on the {ippity} blog. Customers are allowed to participate….not just us chicks 🙂 Link something up!

Okay, it’s unbearably hot here in middle Tennessee (Heat index: 122). I don’t like this weather at all! It didn’t get really bad until today. Saturday and Sunday were spent canning green beans and relish at my grandmother’s house. Canning is a lost art that I think is coming back. It’s been something that I’ve done since I was little. The only part I hate is washing the green beans. You put them in a sink full of water and scoop them out with your hands. The texture of the beans in the water just bothers me……eewww! After finishing, I went outside and saw this little squirrel running down the yard with a pear in his mouth (It was bigger that he was.)! I remember my grandfather, when he was alive, not liking the squirrels and birds getting to his pears, so I picked as many as I could. The tree never really produces many pieces of fruit, so I was surprised that I got 10 pieces. Here is a picture of one of the pears:

Here’s to you, Papa. I protected your pears.

Fintastic!

Hello, all! I know it’s been a few days since my last post. I’ve had appointments to get to, cleaning to do, etc. Crafting kind of got put on the sideburner. However, I did save a couple of projects in the case that I couldn’t get any crafting done!!!

I am also going to throw an idea at you all. What stamp set would you like to see me use in the coming weeks? (I don’t have all of the {ippity} stamps, so I’ll have to pick the ones that use the sets I have), or What type of project would you like to see me try my hand at?
